1. La pendiente de la recta 5x + y - 4 = 0 es la pendiente de su forma y = mx + b. Reorganizando,

y = -5x + 4

aquí, la pendiente m = -5.

2. Si la nueva recta es paralela, tendrá la misma pendiente m = -5.

3. La ecuación de una recta en la forma punto-pendiente es

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1).

4. Sustituyendo el punto (5, -2) y la pendiente -5 ,

y - (-2) = -5(x - 5)

5. Simplificamos esta ecuación,

y + 2 = -5x + 25

y = -5x + 23

6. Pasamos a la forma principal, moviendo todo al primer miembro:

5x + y - 23 = 0 ёош

Por lo tanto,

\boxed{5x + y - 23 = 0}
