Finding the mean

The mean is the average or calculated median value of a set of numbers used to determine the data's central tendency. The mean formula in statistics for a set is defined as the sum of the observations divided by the total number of observations.

Mean = (Sum of all Data Points) / (Number of Data Points)

Example:

What is the mean of these numbers?

6, 11, 7

Solution:

Add the numbers: 6 + 11 + 7 = 24

Divide by how many numbers: 24/3 = 8

Answer: The mean is 8
